Once again, Our Scientific Advisor, Rafael Radi, has been recognized and awarded
Rafael Radi received the Mexico Prize 2016 for Science and Technology, one of the most important awards that a scientist can receive at Ibero-American level.
This honour, which will be presented by the President of Mexico, has been granted since 1990 to those professionally highly regarded who have significantly contributed to universal scientific knowledge or technological progress, especially if their scientific work is of great international impact.
The award was given for his exceptional contributions in the area of Biomedicine, particularly in the field of molecular and cellular research of pathologies associated with oxidative stress and its extrapolation at clinical level, as well as his relevant contribution to training researchers in this field.
Last year Radi was the first Uruguayan scientist to be included in the United States Academy of Sciences. A select group of foreigners is recognized for ‘their distinguished and continuous achievements in innovative lines of research´
Throughout his 26-year career, Radi has discovered "biochemical pathways in cells and tissues that explain cell death phenomena."
