Cinecolex (cholestyramine), is a resin with absorptive capacity and combination with salts of bile acids at the level of the intestine.
Cinecolex is used in the relief of secretory watery diarrhoea, secondary to malabsorption of bile acids, associated with structural disease of the intestine, cholecystectomy and ileo-caecal resection.
Formula
Each envelope contains cholestyramine 4 g anhydrous granules.
Therapeutic Action
Cinecolex is a resin that binds to bile acids salts and is capable of regulating lipid metabolism. Coadjuvant in the treatment of the hypercholesterolemias (Hyperlipidemia type IIa and IIb), usually associated with other lipid-lowering (e.g. Statins). Pruritus associated with Cholestasis or liver diseases.
Treatment of diarrhea secondary to bile salt malabsorption syndrome.
